Why don’t you tell them what 10 shillings is in US dollars (of course it will be cents!). I lived in Kenya for 3 years, and with the prices of things in the US (tea would be $1.50 or so in any restaurant), I think people might find the cost difference amazing!
I should have looked up what a shilling was in US dollars before I asked this, but I’ll ask it anyway.
I loved all parts of Kenya, and many times wish I could to at least afford to visit!

Taking the overnight train to Mombasa is a fun thing, if you’re a small group and in no particular hurry. I’m sure it is photo-worthy also?

I remember taking a ride on a train during a camping trip to Mt. Longonot. I can’t have been more than twelve years old. That was my first and last time on a train. These photographs have me thinking that i need to take a train ride again, if for nothing else, to get some ten bob tea!
